William George “W.G.” Black, Sr., 86, of Christiansburg, left his earthly life and entered his eternal life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

He was born October 30, 1930, the son of the late Mills and Louise Wade Black. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in New River and Mt. Airy United Methodist Church in Riner. He was retired from Hercules but most people knew him as the smiling face greeting you as you entered Walmart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alicia Pack Black.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Cedric Black of Christiansburg, William G. Black, Jr. of Blacksburg, Gary Black of Washington D.C., Melvin Black of Christiansburg, and Raymond Smith and Waymon Smith, both of Riner; daughter, Diane Black of Christiansburg; sisters, Dolli Stollard of Cleveland, Ohio, Sallie Black of Washington D.C., and Mary Lyons of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Hezekiah Black of Cleveland, Ohio; special grandson Tevin Black; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Central United Methodist Church, 803 Wadsworth St. in Radford with Pastor Richard Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. The Black family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory, 120 West Main Street in Radford. www.mullinsfuneralhome.com
