The Big South Conference recently announced its annual ESPNU Wildcard men’s basketball broadcast dates will again feature six regular-season contests beginning Monday, Jan. 4.

The first selection is the Presbyterian at UNC Asheville game at 5:00 p.m. from Kimmel Arena.

The schedule marks the eighth straight year in which Big South men’s basketball games will be nationally televised on ESPNU as part of a Wildcard series.  In addition to the Jan. 4 game, the schedule features three more January games (Jan. 14, 19 and 28) and two February dates (Feb. 4 and 18).

The Presbyterian at UNC Asheville broadcast on Jan. 4 will open the two-game season series between the squads.  It will be the third Big South series of the season for Asheville, and second Big South series for Presbyterian.

Presbyterian is led by freshman guard Rayshon Harrison, who is currently the Big South’s second-leading rebounder with eight per game and the league’s third-leading scorer at 17.3 points per game.

Asheville was predicted to finish second in the Big South preseason poll. Redshirt-junior guard Tajion Jones is second in the conference, averaging 17.8 points per game. He ranks sixth in field goal percentage (50.0) and is third in three-point accuracy at 42.0 percent.

The match-up will mark Asheville’s 11th appearance in the Big South’s ESPNU Wildcard series, while Presbyterian will make its second appearance.  A total of 29 games have been played in the series that began in 2013-14, and while the home teams are 20-9, the 29 games have been decided by an average of 8.24 points with 19 of those being decided by single digits.
