Several members of Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Christiansburg were honored with the highest ritual for which a Beta Sigma Phi can qualify.

The ritual was held at the home of Cindy Koziol on Summit Ridge Road in Christiansburg.

Carolyn K. Sowers and Sue B. Warden have received the Torchbearer Ritual, based upon years of outstanding service and study to the Chapter and community.

Sowers has been in Beta Sigma Phi for 42 years and has received numerous awards and recognition from the sorority, including the prestigious International Award of Distinction.

She is retired from human resources at Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences and resides with her husband Wayne in Christiansburg.

Sue Warden is a 38-year member of BSP, has received a variety of awards and recognitions from the sorority, including the International Award of Distinction. Warden is retired from Virginia State Police and resides in Christiansburg with her husband, Roger.

“Through their many years of service and study, these Ladies have reached the highest pinnacle of the Beta Sigma Phi experience,” Robin Grove, who conducted the ritual said. “As they continue on their leadership path, they will now light the way for themselves and all those who follow.”

Robin Grove receives her Laureate degree from the local Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

Robin Grove of Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority qualified for advancement to the Laureate Degree following eight years of active membership in the Preceptor Degree and eight years of program work. She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 19 years, having served in a variety of roles, most recently as vice president.

Grove works as a swim instructor and coach, and as a substitute teacher in Montgomery County. She resides in Christiansburg with her husband, Brian, and son, Takoda.
