Beamer, Bonna Sikes

Bonna Sikes Beamer, 81, of Dublin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Grayson County  to Robert and Ruth Sikes. She was a former English Professor at New River Community College and was an active member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry Beamer.

Bonna is survived by her daughters, Terri Shelor of Dublin and Melissa Lawson of Wirtz; sons-in-law Don Shelor and Barry Lawson; grandchildren Beth and Logan Shelor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and John Wayne Smith, and Dianna and Bobby Bowers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Marilee Beamer; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special caregiver, Emily Wesley. 

Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at Dublin United Methodist Church, and funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 13. Bonna was laid to rest beside Larry at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dublin United Methodist Church or to the Radford University Brain Injury Center.

The Beamer family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory in Radford.
