The staff at Roses Department Store are shown on opening day in 1955. This building on West Main Street in Christiansburg replaced an earlier structure that was destroyed by fire. The hollow core tile silo is an early version of this iconic agricultural structure. They were replaced by metal and concrete block silos during the mid-twentieth century. (This photo is from the D.
