Robert Maurice “Moose” Atkinson, 100, of Radford, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017.


He was a member of Unity Christian Church and retired from Burlington Industries. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He was the son of the late Robert D. Atkinson and Goldie Jewell Atkinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen R. Atkinson; his son, Gary Atkinson; his grandson, Nathan E. Atkinson; sister, Freda Atkinson Cooper; and brother, Rev. Cline Atkinson.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Mariah Atkinson and her husband, West Robison of Roanoke; great grandson, Wake Robison; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth A. Willis and Lois A. and Edward Henson; and brother and sister-in-law, Billie and Priscilla Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Unity Christian Church in Radford with Rev. Wendy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery in Shawsville. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Unity Christian Church, 400 Tyler Ave., Radford, VA 24141.
