The Highlander Club (formerly referred to as the Radford Athletics Club) announced a second straight record-breaking year for total gifts and new pledges for the 2016-17 fund drive year. The fund drive year runs from July 1 to June 30 of each fiscal year.

Due to the tremendous support from alumni, faculty/staff, parents and friends of the athletic programs; the Highlander Club raised a total of $934,354, doubled membership to 1,069 and received a total of 1,920 gifts.

“We cannot thank our supporters enough for the impact they make on our student-athletes and programs on a daily basis,” said Director of Athletics Robert Lineburg. “Their gifts allow us to continue to provide the best experience for them on-and-off the playing field. We strive to ensure they graduate, win and serve.”

Some of the fund drive year highlights include:

For the second consecutive year, Radford Athletics’ all-staff giving campaign reached its goal of 100% participation by coaches and administration for gifts.

Doubled membership in Highlander Club from 451 to 1,069 members.

The Inaugural Highlander Pride Weekend netted $82,000 for the Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.

The Student-Athlete Experience campaign raised over half of its total campaign goal of $500,000 to improve the areas of strength & conditioning, athletic training, nutritional programming and creating memorable experiences.

Nearly every one of the 16 sport-specific fundraising initiatives surpassed the amount raised from the previous year.

“As we move into a new fund drive year and beyond; private support through cash gifts and planned giving will be even more critical as we look to continue the momentum to enhance our facilities, fund scholarships and continue to provide opportunities for all of our student-athletes.” said Associate Athletic Director for Advancement Andrew Hartley. “I am confident that the Highlander community will be up for the challenge.”
