Some of the intrepid people who braved the icy cold New River Saturday, Feb. 14 for the annual Polar Plunge in Radford make their way out of the water under the watchful eyes of emergency personnel. More than 400 plungers raised over $76,000 for the Special Olympics at the event, which is coordinated by the Radford City Police Department with assistance from Radford Fire/EMS, the City of Radford and sponsors.
