Dorris Tolbert Anderson, 87, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025.

Dorris was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and a proud Dublin Duke graduating from Dublin High School Class of ’56. She spent her working years in the garment industry. She was an excellent seamstress making and mending clothes for family and friends. She was a great cook and an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to music and dancing, especially flat-footing and square dancing. She and her husband belonged to local square dance clubs in the late 70’s early 80’s. She was an original baseball mom keeping the score book for the teams that her husband Doug coached. Dorris was a life-long member of New Dublin Presbyterian Church and a member of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Dorris was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Beulah Mabry Tolbert, and her husband, Doug Anderson.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Norma Anderson of Dublin, and Daryl and Melissa Anderson of Riner; and by four grandchildren, Bethany and Thomas Anderson of Dublin, and Samantha and J. T. Anderson of Riner.

She is also survived by two brothers, James “Rooster” Tolbert and Wayne Tolbert of Dublin; four sisters, Betty Ann Williams of Greenville, S.C., Mary Jane Ratcliff of Montvale, Evelyn and Harold Handy and Marie and Ronnie Billing, all of Dublin; brothers-in-law, Mel Anderson of Dublin and Leslie and Sally Anderson of Christiansburg; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank N.P. Jill Garrett and the nurses and staff at Highland Ridge Rehab in Dublin for the excellent care that they provided her during her stay there, and to nurse Patti in the medical care unit at Carilion NRV Medical Center, and Medi-Home Hospice.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 23 from Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with The Reverend Tupper Garden officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations in Dorris’ memory be given to New Dublin Presbyterian Church, 5331 New Dublin Church Road, Dublin, VA 24084.

The Anderson family is in the care of the Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
