Jeraldine Gillespie Almond, 89, of Blacksburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 6, 2020.
“Jerry” was born Oct. 4, 1931, to Joseph and Willie Lucille Gillespie in Paces, Va. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Almond Sr., and her brothers, Harold Gillespie and Karl Gillespie Sr. She will be missed by her children, Connie (Steve) Lowe, Richard, Jr. (Cheryl) Almond and Tammy (Allen) Hypes; and her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Edith Simms, a brother-in-law Donald Almond and sisters-in-law Carol Bailey and Carol Ann Almond along with numerous nieces and nephews
Jeraldine enjoyed her work for many years with First Virginia Bank in Blacksburg. She was a longtime member of Blacksburg First Church of God where she was a choir member and served as a Sunday school teacher and in other offices.
A graveside service was held Monday, Nov. 9, at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg with Pastor David Ansley officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to all those who cared for “Mom” at Commonwealth in Christiansburg and to Good Samaritan Hospice, which was our lifeline to her during the pandemic when visiting was non-existent.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Blacksburg Fire and Rescue or the Blacksburg First Church of God.
Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
