Harriet Elizabeth Albert, 78, of Blacksburg went to see the father of heaven Jan. 7, 2025. She was surrounded by her family until her last moments. Harriet was born March 10, 1946. She was raised in Prices Fork, and lived a very eventful life with her husband, Jerry Albert and their two children, Shannon Albert and Michelle (Albert) Linkous.

There were only a few things she loved and the thing she loved the most were her grandkids, Ashlyn Linkous, Hunter Linkous and Lucas Albert. Ashlyn and Hunter are the children of Michelle and Donnie Linkous. Lucas Albert is the son of Shannon and Candice Albert. She loved her husband Jerry Albert more than the world would ever know. They spent 54 years together.

She is also survived by her brother, Eugene Lucas; sisters, Norma Hill, Peggy Nickels (Henry); sister-in-law, Suzanne Albert.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ashley Lucas; sister, Doris Broyles; brothers, Howard and Joe Lucas.

Harriet was well known throughout the communities of Blacksburg and Long Shop. She was always known for being uplifting and being positive and always having a smile on her face no matter what was going on in her life. She served the community, her church, and worked 53 years for L.L. Brown Insurance company, where she never met a stranger.

Harriet always imparted to her kids and grandkids that it never cost a penny to smile and if you don’t have your family and your health you don’t have anything in life.

Harriet’s family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Cox and Dr. Tuono and the special nursing staff that cared for her, Terrence and Claire, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery, Fresenius Kidney Care Montgomery County, Heritage Hall-Blacksburg, and Tiffany Albert for her care.  They provided the most excellent care for her while she was in the hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Martin Paulson officiating.  Interment followed in Harless Cemetery, Long Shop.  The family received friends Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harless Cemetery, 4866 Whitethorne Road, Blacksburg, VA, 24060.
