On March 17, the Atlantic Coast Conference cancelled all athletics-related activities through the remainder of the academic year in light of the nationwide effects of the coronavirus outbreak. Thus, the Virginia Tech baseball team’s 5-3 victory over George Mason marked the school’s last varsity win of the 2019-20 season.

1 The Virginia Tech women’s track and field team won the ACC’s indoor title, giving the program its sixth ACC championship overall and its third indoor crown.

There were several bright spots for Tech fans over the course of the season. Here is a list:

Peter Seufer won the ACC cross country individual crown for the second consecutive season, and his fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships was the highest ever by a Virginia Tech men’s runner.

Sara Freix finished second at the ACC Cross Country Championships and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career.

Hunter Bolen won the ACC title in the 184-pound weight class and was slated to be the No. 1 seed in the class before the cancellation of the NCAA Wrestling Championships

The Tech men’s soccer team received a bid to the NCAA Championship for the fourth consecutive year and advanced to the Sweet 16.

James Kasak, a member of the men’s soccer team, was a fourth-round draft pick in the Major League Soccer Draft.

The Tech women’s soccer team received a bid to the NCAA Championship for the second consecutive time and the seventh time in head coach Chugger Adair’s tenure.

Mandy McGlynn, the goalkeeper on the women’s soccer team, earned All-America honors and became just the second student-athlete in program history to be drafted by a National Women’s Soccer League team.

The football program extended its bowl streak to 27 consecutive season.

Elizabeth Kitley and Trinity Baptiste, two women’s basketball players, were the ACC’s Freshman of the Year and Sixth Woman of the Year, respectively, this past season.

The Tech men’s basketball team beat then-No. 3 Michigan State at the Maui Invitational.

The Tech softball team beat three ranked teams at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational in mid-February. The Hokies were 21-4 at the season’s conclusion and ranked No. 17 nationally.
