The Virginia High School League has announced its All-State Boys and Girls Swim/Dive teams.
In individual sports (Cross Country, Golf, Gymnastics, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, Swim/Dive, Tennis, and Wrestling), all-state selection is based on placement in the state tournament in that sport; no selection meeting is necessary.
In Class 2, Radford had four swimmers named all-state on the girls’ side of the pool. Evia Grim was all-state in the 100-meter free style and 100-meter backstroke. Jill Grim was honored in the one-meter dive, Shelby Jones in the 50-meter free style, and Tatti Bernier in the 100-meter butterfly.
Teammates Trent Hollandsworth and Ben Marinaro were honored on the boys all-state list. Hollandsworth made the list in both the 100-butterfly and 100-breaststroke and Marinaro in the 100-freestyle. Both were named in the 200-medley relay, which also included Gregory Vinson and Ian Mayer and the 400-freestyle relay, which also included Mayer and Sam Khandan-Barani.
In Class 3, Luke Rawlings of Christiansburg was all-state in the one-meter dive event.
In Class 4, Blacksburg had four female swimmers named all-state. Leah Santos was all-state in the 200-freestyle and 100-freestyle. Caroline Linkous was recognized in the 200 IM, Jillian Wiersema in the 500-freestyle and Adeline Boyer in the one-meter dive.
