The artwork of Radford City Public Schools students is on display at Glencoe Mansion Mar. 12 through April 27.
Glencoe Mansion is pleased to announce the return of the Radford City Public Schools Art Show, which features the artworks of students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The show is open Mar. 12 through April 27. There is an opening reception Wednesday, Mar. 19, 5:30 – 7 p.m. We encourage the community to visit and show their support for these talented Bobcats. The event is free to attend and suitable for all ages.
The show features the works of students from Radford High School and John Dalton Intermediate School as well as Belle Heth and McHarg Elementary Schools. This year’s show features a wide variety of artwork, including drawings and paintings, 3-Dimensional sculptural pieces, and a special black light installation. These talented young artists are showcasing works that were created in the classroom where they diligently learned about a variety of art movements, styles, and mediums. Works from Radford High School were created under the instruction of Savannah Leeman; Dalton Intermediate School under Kristy Bryant; Belle Heth Elementary under Michelle Saunders; and McHarg Elementary under Tarri Gauck.
The student artists of Radford High School have gained various honors for their artwork including exhibition at the Radford University Tyler Gallery as well as awards in the Regional Scholastic Art competition. Under Mrs. Leeman, students have worked on various projects using a variety of media where she focuses on helping students develop their artistic skills while learning important 21st century skills that will help them find success in the world outside of school. “We are so excited to once again partner with Radford City Public Schools and to showcase the dynamic artwork of Radford’s youngest citizens,” said Museum Director Scott Gardner.
“As a student, to have your artwork on public display is so special, and we at Glencoe are thrilled to be able to showcase their hard work and offer this show to our community,” added Gallery coordinator Lauri Murphy.
Glencoe Mansion is free to visit and is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1- 4 p.m.
