Wasena Nadine Absher Price, 88, of Christiansburg, left the family that she dearly loved to be with her Heavenly Father on Feb. 13, 2025.
Nadine was a retired employee of the Montgomery County Department of Social Services. She was a dedicated and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, grandmother-in-law, and great grandmother.
She was born May 13, 1936, as the first child of the late Harold Absher, Sr. and the late Hattie Sue Absher. She was also preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband, Arthur G. Price, Sr., great granddaughter Maelie Elizabeth Nagle, sister, Wanda Absher Croy, brother, Harold Absher, Jr., her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Gladys Price, sister-in-law Jackie Jo Price Johnston, brother-in-law, Barry Price, sister-in-law, Faye Hall Price, sister-in-law, Laverne (Kay) Price and brother-in-law Jerry Johnston.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son and daughter-in-law, Art Price and Donita Croy Price, that she adored and deeply loved, three precious granddaughters and their husbands that she loved more than words can express, Hope Price Velickovic (Ivan), Maddie Price Duke (David), and Mary Price Nagle (Zach), great grandchildren that she so dearly loved and gave her the nickname “Cookie” because she brought them cookies every week when she was healthy to do so, Olivia Ivana Velickovic, Landon Thomas Nagle, Emmie Jane Duke, and Zoe Rayne Nagle. She is also survived by sister-in- law, Linda Pharis Absher, brother-in- law, William (Tiny) Croy, brother-in-law, Rusty Price and several nieces and nephews.
When she was healthy enough, Nadine loved to be at everything that Art, Donita, Hope, Maddie, Mary, Olivia, Landon, Emmie and Zoe did. She kept a notebook of all the grades and gymnastics and basketball scores of her great grandchildren. She recently developed a love for Auburn High School baseball and Floyd County High School football because of Art’s love for both. She was also a supporter of the Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame.
She will be missed more than words can even begin to express. After she saw the face of Jesus Christ with open arms and reunited for eternity with “her Arthur”, she heard a little voice that she never heard before say, “Hey,Cookie! I am Maelie.”
The family received friends Tuesday, Feb. 18 at McCoy Funeral Home (Blacksburg). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with dear family friend Pastor Stanley “Shake” Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens (Christiansburg).
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to RAKforMaelie. Please mail to: 135 Wooden Shoe Court, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or PayPal at Rakformaelie@gmail.com in Nadine’s name.
