Kenneth Ray Akers, 85, of Dublin, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2023. He was born in Christiansburg on May 20, 1937, to the late Henry and Bessie Musselman Akers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eula Albert Akers; brothers, Carl Akers, and Barry Akers; and sister, Dorothy Hodge. He retired from Virginia Tech after 35 years of service in the printing shop.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rocky Miller; granddaughter, Chasity Miller and special friend, Mike Crockett; Kenneth’s little buddy, Memphis Crockett; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Aliff; sisters-in-law, Eleanor King, Kitty Collins, Emily Oliver, Sandy Albert, and Phyllis Hudson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mickey and Diana Albert; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and neighbors from the lake. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Highland Ridge Rehab Center.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 in the McCoy Funeral Chapel with the Preacher Terry Hodge officiating. Interment followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
