The Christiansburg Lions Club will present its 30th annual holiday Christmas craft show on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.

According to club member Doug Kanney, over the years, the craft show has welcomed more than 50,000 shoppers to an average of 110 vendors with their handmade crafts. Kanney estimates that the craft show has put back into the community more than $300,000 for various local, district, and international Lions Club projects including leader dogs for the blind, diabetes

awareness and prevention, children’s programs around the world, vision testing and glasses for local school children, and financial support for earthquake and hurricane victims. The craft show also helps support MCEAP (the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program), the Christmas Store, Scout troops, Boys and Girls State and scholars for high school students, and local rescue and fire departments.

Kanney said he expects 145 vendors at this year’s show. They will bring their crafts and homemade goodies to share with shoppers from Christiansburg and the New River Valley.

Over the years, the crafters have made Christmas shopping a happy time, allowing shoppers to do some “early” shopping and to see the talents and skills that go into craft making for the show including homemade wood crafts and jewelry, homemade baked goods, pictures and paintings by local artists and much more. The show will also serve up food at the Lions Club Snack Bar.

The Christiansburg Lions Club is one club among 1.4 million Lions around the world in more than 200 countries. The motto for Lions International is “We Serve.”
