RU softball adds six newcomers to team

The 2021 Radford University softball roster will have some new additions as head coach Hope Creasy announced Monday the addition of six freshmen to the roster.

The six freshmen come from South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia, including two from Montgomery County.

Infielder/outfield Tori Boyd is from Christiansburg and Auburn High School. She was a leader for the Eagles as they rolled to a 69-9 record with a state championship in 2019 and a runner-up finish in 2018 during her high school playing days. In 2019, she hit .415 with 46 runs scored, 24 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

Infielder Taylor Breidt is from Waxhaw, N.C. She was first-team all-conference in the Rocky River Conference as a junior in 2019. Her Parkwood High School team won the 2A state championships and went to the postseason each of her remaining three seasons. Her junior season, Breidt hit .428.

Infielder/outfielder Alexis Ferguson is from Lynchburg, Va., and Brookville High School. She led the team to a combined 62-10 record through her three seasons of play. The team won a state championship in 2016, a district championship in 2017 and a conference championship in 2019. As a junior, Ferguson led the district in home runs and RBIs and was named first-team all-district.

Infielder, outfielder Paityn Moore is from Lakeland, Fla., and George Jenkins High School. She led the Eagles to 65 wins and the 2018 district championship in a little over three seasons. She was a four-year starter and hit .474 as a senior.

Outfielder Kyndall Stanley was a four-year starter for the Christiansburg High School Blue Demons. She finished her career with a .448 batting average and a .477 on-base percentage.

She was twice named to the all-region outfield and three times was named to the all-conference/district outfield. She was named second-team all-state an All-Timesland heading into her senior season.

Infielder/outfielder Olivia Turpin is from Bluffton, S.C., and May River High School. In her high school career, she batted .443 with 84 RBIs and eight home runs. In her shortened senior season, she hit .428 with 0 RBIs and one home run in six games. She was named all-region all three full seasons and was all-state as a sophomore.
