Submitted photos An upcoming dinner and music event will benefit the Wilderness Road Regional Museum in Newbern.

Tickets are now on sale for Museum Lover’s Evening at Al’s on First, to be held on Friday, August 2, 5:30 PM, in Downtown Pulaski.

Wilderness Road Regional Museum will host the event as its annual summer fundraiser. The evening will feature live music, a buffet with a Prime Rib carving station and food options for all, a cash bar with the first drink complimentary, and a 50/50 Raffle. All are invited to this gala event.

Music for the evening will be offered in two areas. In the Banquet Room, Frederick’s Tiny Methodist Hymnal, a jazz duo from Blacksburg, will bring a different spin to ragtime and classic jazz songs. Beth Kelsey on bass and Bud Bennett on both 5-string and tenor banjo make beautiful music together as they bring a modern twist to songs from the early jazz era. Music will also be available in Al’s Bar & Lounge from 6 to 8 PM.

The Hance Store Ledger is one of the many items on display at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum.

Al’s on First is located in downtown Pulaski at 68 1st St NW, Pulaski, VA.  The restaurant and lounge occupy the first floor of a beautifully restored old building, which also houses the Jackson Park Inn. Patio dining is available in a spacious outdoor area.

Proceeds from a 50/50 raffle will benefit the museum and some lucky winner.

Tickets for the event are available for $50 (plus processing fees) on Eventbrite, and for $50 at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum during hours of operation, Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10:30-4:30. The museum address is 5240 Wilderness Road, Dublin, VA 24084. A limited number of tickets will be available at the event for $55.

Wilderness Road Regional Museum is a Museum Lover’s paradise. Housed in the Hance-Alexander home in the village of Newbern, off I81, exit 98, it tells the story of the founding of Newbern and of the Wilderness Road, the main migratory route west during the 19th century.

April Martin Danner is Program Director for the museum, which offers a variety of special events, workshops, and celebrations.

Wilderness Road Regional Museum is a 502(c) non-profit organization and depends on contributions of supporters to keep its doors open and its programs alive. Come out on August 2 and help keep history alive in the New River Valley!
