The promotion of the new line coincides with the upcoming Radford University homecoming celebration.
The “Rowdy Red Heritage Collection” is a vintage-inspired merchandise program that pays homage to the University’s heritage through fashion-forward apparel and non-apparel products.
In an effort to meet fan demand, Radford Athletics has created three vintage logos to incorporate into the Rowdy Red Heritage Collection.
Rowdy Red – the original mascot of Radford University who made his debut on December 9, 1981 during the opening dedication of the Dedmon Center. Rowdy stayed in existence until the mid-90’s when the first Highlander mascot suit was released.
Script Highlanders – logo used on the men’s basketball jerseys during the 1984-85 season when they first competed as an active member in NCAA Division I.
Flying Radford Pennant – a mark that represents heritage and school spirit.
The creation of the new Rowdy Red Heritage Collection was developed by Pennsylvania-based Joe Bosack & Co., a national brand identity firm who also created the current Radford Athletic brand that was released in October 2016.
