December 4th: 4:30- 8:00 pm Winter Lights Festival- Sounds of The Seasons
Tuba Christmas is coming to Blacksburg to join in the ‘Sounds of the Season’ holiday festivities. The Downtown Merchants of Blacksburg, the Lyric Theatre and the Department of Music at Virginia Tech partner to bring you a Merry TubaChristmas! Bring your tubas, euphoniums and all of your friends to downtown Blacksburg.

Downtown Merchants annual Open Houses- 4-8pm, late night shopping, free gift wrap, snacks and beverages, holiday specials.
Deo Gloria will stroll through the stores and streets caroling as they go!
4-7pm– Holiday Farmer’s Market, Crafts, Funnel Cakes, free hot chocolate and hot cider, Student Government Association- selling Hokie Basketball shirts, Blacksburg Junior Master Chorale Bake Sale, Christiansburg- Blacksburg Rotary Club, Historical Smithfield Plantation,and more in the new Market Square Park, (Farmer’s Market space)
4:30pm Pictures with Santa at The Lyric (bring your own camera)
5-7PM: Opening Reception and Book Signing for Signs of Dysfunction at the Mish Mish Gallery
In the show are photographs from the new book, Signs of Dysfunction by local photographer Kirk Carter. The show and book depict the subtext of signage through photos of incomplete, vandalized, weathered, painted-over and otherwise remarkably useless signs. Most of the photos were taken in or near Southwest Virginia. Framed prints and copies of the book will be available for purchase during the run of the show, December 4-31.
