RADFORD – The countdown is on for this year’s Craft & Draft, set for Saturday, Oct. 22, and organizers say it will be the biggest and best yet.
This year’s festival marks the “eight-year anniversary, [with] seven hours of enjoyment, six lanes of merchants, five craft beers on tap, four food trucks, and three live bands” at the event that is “too good to pass up [and is] one festival for the whole community,” according to MountainTrotter Arts, host of the festival.
Craft & Draft is a day-long festival featuring handcrafted artisans, live music, food trucks, craft beer, and more. The festival is “an opportunity for local artisans to bring quality hand-crafted goods straight to you, their neighbors, and to provide an enjoyable community experience while showcasing the value of the creative spirit,” according to MountainTrotter Arts. “Never forget: a handmade item is made with love, with heart, and with joy, and is simply irreplaceable.”
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the grounds of Glencoe Mansion, Museum, and Gallery and will feature more than 35 handcrafted unique and original artists, crafters, and makers from around the region. Craft & Draft will also be selling signature T-shirts with original artwork by Main Squeeze Press, as well as other event-themed merchandise.
Four food trucks will provide snacks and meals to suit all appetites. Five types of craft beer will be available. To help keep the event green, Craft & Draft will be selling a limited number of metal tumblers and will allow the use of outside non-lidded 16-ounce reusable metal cups. Live music will run throughout the day, featuring The Kind, Curtis Eller’s American Circus, and JoJo Stockton & Solacoustix.
The event provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that is kid- and dog-friendly. It is hosted by MountainTrotter Arts, whose mission is to promote the arts and create opportunities for artists, makers, and creators of all types in the mountain community. The festival is supported by its partners, Ballpark Signs, New River Valley Rent-All, New River Radio Group, and Glencoe Mansion, as well as local sponsors. No outside alcohol or smoking will be allowed in the event area.
The event is free to attend, but donations are encouraged. For event info: www.craftanddraftva.com.
