Edgar Zeigler, Jr., 91, of Blacksburg died, Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on June 20, 1926 to the late Edgar, Sr., and Eula Burnside Zeigler. Ed graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Chemical Engineering degree and retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant where he was the supervisor of Resource Recovery.
Ed was active in research and development projects for over 38 years with Hercules Inc. working with propellants, high explosives, and systems for Minuteman, Polaris, HiBex, and Sprint Missiles and served as an Aerial Gunner in the US Air Force during WWII stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather devoted to his family. He was an avid golfer, gardener, fisherman, and enjoyed sharing his time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Carolyn Jo Zeigler; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Zeigler and Patrick Zeigler; 7 grandchildren, brothers and sister-in-law, William and Reene Zeigler and Sam Zeigler.
Funeral Services were conducted on Jan. 16 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Sherwood Burial Park.
The family received friends on Tuesday morning prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW Blacksburg, VA 24060.
