The YMCA at Virginia Tech has decided to host its third annual Souper Bowl Challenge as a virtual event on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Participants will be able to collect their soup samplers at the Y Center, 1000 N. Main St., Blacksburg, and enjoy them in the location of their choice: with friends, family, or alone. They may then vote online for their favorite soup. A link will be sent to ticket holders that will allow them to vote and be entered to win restaurant gift cards.
Voting will open at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8.
The restaurants providing soups and the flavors of this year’s soups, including two vegetarian samples, include:
Next Door Bake Shop: Thai Coconut Soup (Vegetarian)
Our Daily Bread: White Chicken Chili
Zeppolis: Corn Chowder (Vegetarian)
Blue Ridge Mountain Catering: Mushroom and Sherried Salmon
Souper Hero: Ham & Cauliflower Cider
A ticket is $25 and is good for one Souper Bowl Challenge of five soup samples from five local restaurants. Each sample will contain four ounces.
Participants may purchase their tickets at www.vtymca.org. The winning soup will be announced on Feb. 11. Proceeds from the event will support the YMCA at VT’s anti-hunger programs.
