BLACKSBURG – Throughout the year, and especially on Veterans Day, the YMCA at Virginia Tech supports veterans and their families.
On Monday, Nov. 6, the Y is proud to partner with Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets November Company for our 2nd annual Veterans Event.
“While families across our community experience food insecurity, veterans who served in the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are twice as likely to be food insecure compared to the general population, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs,” said Ryan Martin, Executive Director & CEO, YMCA at Virginia Tech. “We are excited to collaborate with November Company and so many great Veterans this Veterans Day week to not only show appreciation to our community’s veterans for their service, but to ensure they are connected to resources they may need for their own health and for the well-being of their families.”
“As November Company of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, we are dedicated to service, competence, and character,” said Cadet Alexis Brotherton. “In this month of November, we focus on giving back to those who have dedicated their lives to defending our nation. We honor the brave men and women who protect our country and uphold our values. Together, we stand united in service and reflect the principles of our motto, competence and character, and the motto of Virginia Tech, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).”
On Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. we will host a special meal and resource fair for Veterans in The Y Center Event Room at 1000 N. Main St., Blacksburg.
