Christine Gilmer Woolwine, 79, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully Jan. 29, 2026, surrounded by her niece and husband Doug, and a very special nurse by her side. Christine was born on July 17, 1946, to the late Milton and Myrtle Gilmer.
Christine is survived by her nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; several very special work friends; and an amazing man who gave of his time to check on her and mow her yard, Chad, to whom we will be forever grateful. Christine loved her family with all her heart. She talked of them often. Never having children of her own, she loved them like her own. On occasion when asked if she had children she would smile and say yes. You could see her love for her family throughout her home with the many pictures she possessed.
Christine was an amazing daughter, taking care of her mother until her passing. She was an amazing aunt, showering her nieces and nephews with many special gifts and time spent with them. She was a selfless person and provided warmth and love to all who knew her.
She loved her flowers and had an amazing green thumb. She enjoyed the outdoors and watching birds and butterflies. She enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed crafting and creating new things. She was passionate about pictures and home movies. If she was at a family gathering, you could guarantee she would have a camera in hand. Christine loved her Heavenly Father. Her faith never diminished.
The family would like to express their gratitude to ACG Hospice as well as the nurses and staff of Radford Rehab, including a very special nurse, Hannah, who even on her day off came to be with her until her passing.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Christiansburg with Pastor George Bulson officiating and special music by Dee Dannewitz Wallace
In lieu of flowers the family ask you to make a donation to a charity of your choice. Christine loved to support many charities throughout her lifetime.
If love could have saved you…. you would have lived forever! Thank you for all the amazing memories! Until we see you again.
The Woolwine family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
