Ronald “Ronnie” Edward Winfrey, 76, of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Born Nov. 30, 1943, in Princeton, W.Va., he was a son of the late Bernard and Lena Winfrey of Green Valley, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lloyd Nelson of Pinehurst, N.C., and his fur baby “Kitten.”
He graduated from Princeton High School, attended and graduated from Bluefield College with a degree in forestry and then went on to graduate from Bluefield State College with a degree in chemistry and math.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn Brumfield Winfrey of Bluefield, W.Va., and his sister, Shirley Nelson of Pinehurst, N.C.
He was retired from the Radford Arsenal as a supervisor in the water lab. He was an avid outdoorsman and a proud member of the NRA and the Triangle Sportsmen’s Club. He also loved the West Virginia Mountaineers.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 11 a.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
