The Radford High School softball team fell 9-5 to the Floyd County Lady Buffs on Tuesday despite out hitting the Lady Buffs 12 to 8. Kaydence Rollins homered and Addie Saunders, Kathryn Price, Ella Cox and Olivia Radford each collected two hits for the Radford Bobcats. Rollins and Price each drove in two runs. Quinn Burton was the losing pitcher going six innings and striking out six.
Christiansburg over Radford in baseball
Christiansburg scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 14-16 2in over Radford this past week. Jeremiah Thompson hit a solo home run, while Ethan Wayman tripled and scored to runs.
Christiansburg amassed 13 hits in the game. Gavin Dow was 3-for-5 at the plate with two doubles.
Blake Farmer, Johnathan Flinchum, Mason Murphy and Micah Ray, each had hits for Radford. Flinchum and Tanner Rodgers stole multiple bases in the game as the Bobcats tallied seven total steals.
Blacksburg girls down Hidden Valley
The Blacksburg Girls Soccer team defeated Hidden Valley 2-0 this past week at Bill Brown Stadium. Scoring for Blacksburg was senior Amalia Moore and sophomore Addison McSorley.
Blacksburg improves to 7-0-2, 3-0-2 and Hidden Valley dropped to 5-4, 1-4.
Fagan ACC player of week
Virginia Tech second baseman Cameron Fagan has been named the ACC Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning. The senior earned the award for the second time this year after leading the offense with a .667 batting average.
Fagan tallied six hits and seven RBIs against Boston College. She produced at least two RBIs in every game of the series, including home runs in games one and two. In the series finale, Fagan hit a two RBI single to bring Tech from behind in the fifth inning.
At the plate, Fagan is third on the team with 50 hits and fourth with a .379 batting average. The second baseman continues to be a standout on defense with a .990 fielding percentage.
