Sept. 9-16 at Warm Hearth Village was a festive celebration of gratitude and homecoming for the senior living community home to nearly 600 residents. The same week also marked the annual celebration of Assisted Living Week at Showalter Center (SC) and the Kroontje Health Care Center (KHCC).

A Grandparents luncheon kicked off the Assisted Living Week fun on Sunday at Kroontje Health Care Center and on Tuesday, at Showalter Center, residents enjoyed a social with their favorite local fare from Carol Lee Donuts and Mill Mountain Coffee.

The resident activity kitchen at KHCC provided an excellent space for residents and staff to make and share dried apple fried pies on Thursday. The same day, The Marching Virginians were on campus for a village-wide pep rally where President and CEO Ferne Moschella provided a tribute to Tony Distler, long-time board member and creator and voice of The Marching Virginians.

Tony was a valued friend of WHV who passed away last December. Friday featured the Homecoming Dance with music by The Old Pros where Don Chalupka and Lillian McPherson were crowned 2017 Homecoming King and Queen.

The busy week culminated on Saturday with a tailgate party before the Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina game.

Warm Hearth Village is a nonprofit senior living community in Blacksburg that provides a full continuum of living options on our campus and in the home.
