BLACKSBURG – Thanks to the generosity of donors to the Warm Hearth Foundation’s Employee Growth & Development fund, 15 Warm Hearth employees across the village received a total of $28,000 in scholarships this year.
Scholarship funds will empower recipients to grow in their careers — whether by covering the cost of licenses and certifications, supporting specialized training, or helping with tuition for undergraduate or graduate degrees. This initiative is designed to recognize and invest in our team members’ professional development, while fostering a culture of learning, advancement, and opportunity.
The Foundation Board of Trustees reviewed all applications and made awards based on references provided, job performance and the scholarship’s ability to aid in career advancement at Warm Hearth. Tom Pierce, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees said, “It’s wonderful to have such strong donor support to recognize our employees who want to further their education and pursue advancement opportunities. Warm Hearth Village residents see the value of rewarding and retaining valued employees and recognize that it leads directly to higher quality care and services at Warm Hearth.”
The following employees were awarded scholarships at ceremonies held throughout the village: Tabitha Greenhalgh, Scottie Rye, Amy Greer, Alisha Wagle, Amber Sult, Gregory Nichols, Michele Harvey, Megan Williams, Bridget Sawyers, Marcus Burks, Shu Ching Chung, Alexis Schwartz, Rachel Hicks, Anne Dickerson and Larissa Gilbert.
William Lester, President & CEO, said, “It is an honor to provide these scholarships to our team members. We are grateful to all the donors that make this possible. This is just another example of what makes Warm Hearth Village such a special place work and our residents to call home.”
