Virginia Tech men’s basketball redshirt-senior Keve Aluma remains in the hunt for the 2022 Lute Olson Award as the mid-season watch list was announced Wednesday.
The award, which is presented annually to the top player in Division I college basketball, is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson, who won 776 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona.
Aluma is one of five ACC players on the mid-season watch list. The other four are Armando Bacot from North Carolina, Paolo Banchero from Duke, Wendell Moore from Duke, and Alondes Williams from Wake Forest.
Since following head coach Mike Young to Tech, Aluma has started all 36 games and is averaging 15.2 points per game. The Berlin, Md., native has scored in double figures nine straight games and leads the ACC in scoring for conference-only games. For the season, Aluma has three double-doubles and is shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.
