Produce, Produce, Produce! Share, Wash or Distribute!
Volunteers help neighbors, make a difference in our community, have fun and feel great. Here are some ways you can help us with produce: Share from Your Farm or Garden: You can share your crops, or plant extra produce for the Plenty! Food Bank. Portable Produce: During the growing season, volunteers wash fresh produce and bag it for individuals and families who can’t come to the Food Bank.

Crisis Intervention Volunteer
Women’s Resource Center of The NRV
Crisis Intervention Volunteers are a vital part of our agency’s service delivery efforts. These volunteers provide direct service to our clients, both in our emergency shelter and over a 24-hour crisis hotline. They are a source of support for shelter residents, lending a listening ear, or just offering a few words of encouragement to people in crisis. Volunteers have a direct hand in helping to make our communities free from domestic and sexual violence.
Volunteers are required to complete a 45 hour pre-service training program. The training is offered 3 times a year: fall, late spring, and winter. In addition, 15 hours of on-the-job training are also required to be a certified Crisis Intervention volunteer.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We do sometimes make exceptions, with parental permission.

A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed!
Intellectual Disabilities Agency Of The NRV (Ag. For Persons W/MR)
Opportunities can include being a team mate on a recreational league, walking club buddy, or helping at dances. Weekly leagues such as bowling, basketball, softball, swimming, volleyball, soccer, walking, and track & field are comprised of teams of individuals with and without cognitive disabilities, playing together as equal team mates. A summer day camp includes daily swimming, arts & crafts, and field trips. Several dances each year offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Your participation will foster a spirit of friendship and will broaden your understanding of people with disabilities. Was fun mentioned? You will have loads of fun and make new friends while helping break down barriers that keep apart people with and without disabilities. You will be helping persons with disabilities increase self-esteem and confidence and develop more appropriate social skills. These important skills will help with their acceptance by the community. And just think, what a huge difference you’re making in someone’s life while having so much fun! Students can accumulate hours of community service for class requirements, service learning or internships.
For the activity you choose, you will be expected to attend a new volunteer training & orientation which lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old, however soccer volunteers may be as young as 8 years old.
