A Virginia Tech transfer is facing local charges of driving under the influence of drugs.
According to court records, Pittsburgh linebacker Jordan Bass has been charged this past week and has a Montgomery County court appearance set for Feb. 4.
Bass was released on bond.
The charge is a misdemeanor, while an additional civil violation is for possession/consumption of marijuana under the age of 21.
In a statement, Virginia Tech said they were aware “of an incident involving football student-athlete Jordan Bass.” The program said in a press release, “As this is a legal matter, we will abide by university policy and have no further comment until the process is complete.”
Bass is a Hampton native and was the No. 5 player in Virginia for the 2023 recruiting class.
At 6-4, 215, Bass adds depth to the Virginia Tech football team. In the past two seasons at Pittsburgh, he recorded 25 tackles (15 solo), one sack and 5.5 tackles for a loss.
Tech was one of 20 schools that had offered Bass coming out of Phoebus High School.
Bass earned Class 3 All-State First Team honors in 2021, helping to lead Phoebus to a state championship.
