Saturday, Mar. 28:

NRCC Campus Cruise In, Family Fun Day and Cyber Day

New River Community College’s Campus Cruise In will be held 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in parking lot A at NRCC in Dublin, featuring classic cars from regional car club members. Sponsored by the automotive technology department, it is family-friendly. For more information, contact Allen Crookshanks at acrookshanks@nr.edu or (540) 674-3600, ext. 4229. NRCC’s annual Family Fun Festival and NRCC’s Cyber Day events will also be going on during the Cruise In. Family Fun Festival has a variety of activities for adults and children. Cyber Day is an event where anyone can bring their laptops, desktops, tablets and phones for a free tune up and virus scan. The events are free and open to the public.

 

Blacksburg Farmers Market

At Market Square Park, 100 Draper Rd SW, Blacksburg; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Blacksburg Farmers Market is a local, family-friendly gathering place in downtown Blacksburg featuring farmers of locally grown produce and meats, alongside artisans of baked goods and handmade crafts. Warm Hearth at Home bereavement support group

Grief can feel isolating – but you don’t have to go through it alone. Join us for a compassionate bereavement support group offering connection, understanding, and a safe space to be with others who understand loss. Sharing is optional. Listening is enough. Radford Easter Egg Hunt

At Bisset Park, 1- 4 p.m. Egg hunt for ages 3-5 at 2 p.m.; ages 6-8 at 2:15 p.m.; ages 9- 12 at 2:30 p.m.; ages 3 and under at 2:45 p.m. Also, bouncy houses, petting zoo, food trucks, face-painting, sweets and photos with the Easter Bunny. Please bring a basket.

 

Blacksburg Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Municipal Park. A family-friendly day, fun for all ages! Egg hunt times begin at 10 a.m. for toddler – three-year age group, and 10:30 a.m. for the four-eight-year age group. MRSWA Household Hazardous Waste Day

Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority’s Household Hazardous Waste event, 555 Authority Dr., Christiansburg, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. By appointment only. Call 540-381-2820 to schedule an appointment. Open to all residents of Montgomery County. No commercial waste or commercial vehicles will be permitted. Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any unwanted household product labeled as flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive. Include aerosols, anti-freeze, fertilizers, motor oil, paint supplies, photo chemicals, poisons, solvents and more. No electronics, batteries or paper shredding. Blacksburg Vintage Market

Shop at the Blacksburg Vintage Market on the second and fourth Sundays of every month, April – November, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., for the best selection of vintage vinyl, clothing, jewelry, books, housewares, oddities and who knows what else. Located in downtown Blacksburg at the corner of Roanoke Street and Draper Avenue, in Market Square Park, under the Farmer’s market structure. Plenty of parking is available nearby.

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting

Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

 

Radford City Council meeting

The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.

 

Stories and Poetry reading

The Warm Hearth Village Writers Group presents a Public Reading of Stories & Poetry, 1- 3 p.m. at The Village Center, 2387 Warm Hearth Dr., Blacksburg. Come experience this long-standing tradition and enjoy an afternoon of creativity, connection, and storytelling. All are welcome – come listen, reflect, and be inspired. Founded over 30 years ago by Virginia Tech Poet Laureate Nikki Giovanni, the group shares stories, poetry, and personal reflections. Our writers bring decades of experience to life—through memories of travel, history, and meaningful moments. Each reading is followed by engaging and often delightful conversation.

Blacksburg Town Council meeting

The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.

 

Christiansburg Town Council meeting

At 7 p.m. at Town Hall,100 E. Main St., Christiansburg. This is a regular meeting of town council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. at the NRV Superbowl, 375 Arbor Dr. NE, Christiansburg. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy are also invited to attend. The guest speaker will be Mr. Tom Peery, author and owner of Laurel Hill Publishing, LLC. Introducing the New River Ordnance Plant 

Dennis Kitts returns to Warm Hearth Village at 2 p.m. for Part Two of the RAAP story, focusing on the New River Ordnance Plant—Dublin’s Bagging Plant. Discover its impact on our region and its connection to the years leading into the Korean Conflict. A Q&A session will follow. Kitts is an historian and author is a retired Manager of Training and Development at the Radford Arsenal with nearly 30 years of service. As the official historian and author of the 75th Anniversary history of the Radford Ordnance Works, he is known for his engaging storytelling that brings to life the people, challenges, and triumphs that shaped this chapter of Virginia’s past. At The Village Center, 2387 Warm Hearth Dr.
