Ninth District traveling staff office hours
Congressman Morgan Griffith’s Ninth District staff will be available at the Radford Recreation Building, 200 George St., Radford, 12:30 – 2 p.m. In the event of inclement weather (heavy snow, sleet, icy rain, etc.), traveling office hours may be rescheduled to avoid putting constituents at risk. If a County’s or City’s schools are closed, then its office hours will be closed as well. Please contact the Christiansburg Office at 540-381-5671 with any questions or to schedule an appointment time in the event of office hour closure.
Friday, Dec. 12:
Christmas on Main in Christiansburg
In downtown Christiansburg starting at 5 p.m. for Christmas at the Market featuring local crafters and other vendors, followed by the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Parade. The Tree Lighting Ceremony with the mayor will take place at Town Square at roughly 6:50 p.m., with the Christmas Parade starting at 7 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “Small Town Christmas Stroll.”

Blacksburg Farmers Market
At Market Square Park, 100 Draper Rd SW, Blacksburg; 9 a.m. -2 p.m. The Blacksburg Farmers Market is a local, family-friendly gathering place in downtown Blacksburg featuring farmers of locally grown produce and meats, alongside artisans of baked goods and handmade crafts. Holiday Ukelele Jam with Ash Devine
At The Alexander Black House, 204 Draper Rd. SW, Blacksburg, 2 – 4 p.m. Suggested donation of $10-$20 per person but no one will be turned away. Join us for music, community, and merriment at the second Annual Uke-Xmas Uke-led string jam and sing along. For this session we will sing traditional December holiday songs, featuring classic carols, but not limited to. Some other themes may be solstice, peace and justice, winter, friendship and more. Bring your uke, bring a song, or other stringed instrument, and play along or just come to listen or to sing along. Hot cocoa and light refreshments will be provided. Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.
Thursday, Dec. 18:
16 Squares Walking Tour
Meet at The Alexander Black House every other Thursday at noon to explore the historic streets within the original 16 Squares of Blacksburg and learn the rich history and stories behind many of the buildings and landmarks throughout town that may go unnoticed. You may also schedule this tour by appointment if Thursdays don’t work for your group. As an add-on to this tour, you may also request a tour of historic St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall. Free of Charge. Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. at the NRV Super Bowl, 375 Arbor Drive NE, Christiansburg. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. If Montgomery or Floyd County Schools are closed on Thursday or Friday of this week due to inclement weather, the meeting is cancelled.
