At Market Square Park, 100 Draper Rd SW, Blacksburg; 2 – 6 p.m. The Blacksburg Farmers Market is a local, family-friendly gathering place in downtown Blacksburg featuring farmers of locally grown produce and meats, alongside artisans of baked goods and handmade crafts. Market Square Jam

Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is an official Crooked Road-affiliated venue that provides fun and entertainment on Wednesday evenings, June through September, at Market Square Park, 7- 9 p.m. This week’s performer is Ain’t Right Stringband

Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting

Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. at the NRV Super Bowl, 375 Arbor Dr., Christiansburg. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. Member T.J. Cox will present Part 2 of his talk on General Gabriel Wharton of Radford. Mont. Co. Board of Supervisors Candidate Forum

Sponsored by the NAACP Montgomery Co-Radford City-Floyd Co. Branch (NAACP MRF) and the League of Women Voters, featuring candidates Gunin Kiran (District A), Steve R. Christiansburg Farmers Market

The Christiansburg Farmers Market is located at Christiansburg Huckleberry Park. The market features local farmers and vendors each Thursday. Seasonal produce, plants, fresh baked goods, crafts, fresh flowers, and handmade jewelry are some of the items available for purchase. Items for purchase vary week-to-week. Check the Facebook page for details about weekly themes, prizes, vendors, and live music. The Farmers Market will run May 15 – Oct. 30, 3-7 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 22:

 

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting

Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

 

Radford City Council meeting

The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.

 

Special Education Advisory Committee

A Radford City Public Schools Special Education Advisory Committee meeting will be held at 4 p.m. at McHarg Elementary School, 700 Twelfth St., Radford. The public is invited to attend. The meeting will also be available virtually using Google Meet. Tuesday, Sept. 23:

 

Christiansburg Town Council meeting

Regular town council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall (100 E. Main St.). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, with a citizen hearing time reserved at each meeting for residents to bring any matter they desire before the entire council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Please copy and paste the URL into your browser and be sure to select Live videos to view. Agendas and minutes can be viewed at www.christiansburg.org/agendasandminutes.

 

Blacksburg Town Council meeting

The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.

School Board Candidate Forum

Ryan (District C) and Jamie M. Bond (District D), at the at the Montgomery Co. Govt. Center starting at 6:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, Sept. 27:

 

Rockin’ Main Street Concert

Grab your friends and head Downtown for the last Rockin’ Main Street Concert of the year. The event will take place 5-9 p.m. on E. Main St. Start the evening off with Lucas Fowler & ‘Ol Fashion taking the stage at 5 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., Lyn Avenue will take the stage with their boot-stomping Americana/Country style. Beer, wine, and food trucks will be available at the event. Please bring your IDs if you plan to purchase beer or wine. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to sit watch the live music. Radford Fiddle and Banjo Jam at Bee & Butter

Bee & Butter restaurant, in the Highlander Hotel on Tyler Ave., is now open on Monday nights during the Radford Fiddle and Banjo Jam. The jam is held at the restaurant 6- 9 p.m. each Monday evening.
