Market Square Jam
Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is an official Crooked Road-affiliated venue that provides fun and entertainment on Wednesday evenings, June through September, at Market Square Park, 7- 9 p.m. This week’s performers are Ashlee Watkins and Andrew Small, an award-winning duo of singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists who perform traditional old time, bluegrass, and country music. Based in Southwest Virginia, their stirring harmonies and powerful sounds have been featured on stages around the globe and on recordings, compilations, podcasts, radio, television, and documentary film.

Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting

Christiansburg Farmers Market
The Christiansburg Farmers Market is located at Christiansburg Huckleberry Park. The market features local farmers and vendors each Thursday. Seasonal produce, plants, fresh baked goods, crafts, fresh flowers, and handmade jewelry are some of the items available for purchase. Items for purchase vary week-to-week. Check the Facebook page for details about weekly themes, prizes, vendors, and live music. The Farmers Market will run May 15 – Oct. 30, 3-7 p.m.

Radford Community Fest
Held on East Main Street in downtown Radford, with a slate of live musical performances, street performers, vendors and food trucks. The event is a collaboration between Radford University and the City of Radford, is a free community celebration held 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Music schedule is: 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Sky Dolphin; 12:30 – 2 p.m.: Phat Laces; 2:30 – 4 p.m.: Domino Band; and 4:30 – 6 p.m.: Crawford & Power.
Meet District 42 candidate at picnic
The annual Democratic Committee of Pulaski picnic will be Saturday, Aug. 23, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Dublin High School Memorial Shelter at Randolph Park. Area Democrats, Indivisible members and independents are invited. Join us and meet Biko Agozino, Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates from the huge, multi-community District 42. Please bring a small dish, enough for a few people. This is also an opportunity to meet new friends and have relaxed conversations on topics of interest and concern.
Rotary Club of Blacksburg yard sale
The annual August Yard Sale will be held 7-11 a.m. at the Blacksburg YMCA parking lot on North Main St. Featured will be a wide range of items including furniture, bikes, toys, vinyl records, books, household items, kitchen appliances, tools, and so much more. Proceeds go to local projects as well as scholarships for high school seniors in Montgomery County. We look forward to seeing you there!

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

Christiansburg Town Council meeting
Regular town council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall (100 E. Main St.). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, with a citizen hearing time reserved at each meeting for residents to bring any matter they desire before the entire council. Fall Music Festival
The Pilot Community Center is hosting a fall music festival, 3 – 6 p.m. Musical guests include Russell and Tracy Brewster, The Kipps Family, Jean Keith and more. Food will be available, and tickets will be on sale for the annual gun raffle. The event will also include a plaque unveiling to celebrate the community center’s addition to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Come and join in the fun!
