Last Saturday at the German Club Manor in Blacksburg, United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd hosted their sixth annual formal fundraiser, Valentine’s in Vegas. The fundraising event raised $14,626 that United Way will invest into their local human and health building efforts and the 25 local charities they support. The evening saw a $2,089 increase from the prior year’s formal fundraising event.
Guests enjoyed a variety of casino games including Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em, some very lively slot machines, and a fabulous Craps table.
The overall earner for the night, Indra McGrady, made over $1,000,000 in play money.
PolyChrome, a local rock band, played at the event for the second year in a row, along with deejay Mark Taylor of Master Taylor Entertainment. This year’s silent auction and prizes featured donated items and gift certificates from local businesses and included passes to Disney World, Dollywood, and Floyd Fest, a Snowshoe Mountain Resort ski trip, a Family Fun Basket, an Xbox One S, and much more! The lucky winners at the end of the night took home 24 prize packs and 18 silent auction baskets, a combined value of over $10,000.
