RADFORD – Two well-known piano masters will be performing at Radford University in March. The concerts are free and are open to the public.
On March 3, at 7:30 p.m., Dr. Chi-Long Hu will perform.. Hu has served as the Sandra G. Powell Endowed Professor of Piano at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville since 2016.
Originally from Taiwan, Hu has played as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. His performances have been broadcast on NPR, and his recent concert work has included Rachmaninov, Mozart, Schumann, and Gershwin.
On March 15, French pianist Dr. Mathilde Handelsman will play selections from Schumann at 7:30 p.m. Her 2020 debut album, “Images,” featured works by Claude Debussy, and two new albums are expected in 2023-24.
Handelsman studied at the Paris Conservatoire and received her doctorate from the Shenandoah Conservatory. She currently teaches at the University of New Hampshire.
Both concerts will take place at the Davis Performance Hall in the Covington Center for the Arts on Radford’s main campus. No tickets are required.
