RADFORD – City business and volunteers leaders will be honored at the Radford Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards gala, which will highlight the city’s vibrant railroad history.
“This year we’re excited to acknowledge Radford’s rich railroad history, as the Gala fundraiser theme,” said Ciara Harris, executive director of the Radford Chamber.
This year’s gala, which will be held at the Omni Events Center on the former St. Alban’s campus in Fairlawn, is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.
Several annual awards will be given out at the event, in the categories of Business Person of the Year, Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year. Also, the annual Educator of the Year, presented by Radford Noon Rotary, will be announced at the gala.Nominees for the awards will be accepted until Nov.1.
“We’re excited to have the privilege of honoring some of our outstanding Chamber members and community leaders,”said Harris.
Harris said she is also excited to feature Radford’s train history at the event.
“We are thrilled to keep the momentum of the thriving railroad history in Radford going, as our Gala theme,”she said. “There are so many inspirations for this year’s Gala, one being the new train viewing platform at the Glencoe Museum which opened recently. In the early 1900’s, the railroad industry helped pave the way for Radford businesses, so we felt that now was a great time to celebrate as a Chamber.”
The Chamber is accepting sponsorships for the event, and sponsors will be entitled to attend a sponsors-only, pre-event reception on the evening of the gala.Information on sponsorships and purchasing tickets for the event can be found on-line at http://www.radfordchamber.com/events.
