With state wrestling tournaments facing massive scheduling changes, three area high schools are celebrating regional champions.
Christiansburg has three Region 3D champions, Blacksburg two 4D, and Radford two 2C.
Christiansburg’s title holders were Jackson Crowder at 126, Jake Robie at 175 and Brady Hand at 144. Two Blue Demons are runners-up, Evan Mefford and Brandon Blevins.
As a team, Christiansburg finished in sixth with 132.5 points as Staunton River won back-to-back region titles with 283 points. Cave Spring was second at 203.5.
In Blacksburg, both Braden Henderson at 132 and Tharin Svetanant at 144 took Region 4D championships with Takoda Parker finishing second at 106.
James Woods took the 4D team title with 222 points with Salem in second with 191.5 points.
Radford had two Region 2C champions in Taven Williams at 165 and Cole Martin 175. In the team competition, Radford finished sixth with 119 total points. Glenvar was the 2C team champion with 213.5 points and Chatham second with 156.
