Helen Leighton Thompson, 90, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, Mar. 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert and Bertie Clark Leighton; her loving husband, Emmett Garland Thompson; and her brothers, Howard, Robert “Bob” and Wilbur “Bo” Leighton.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Thompson Blackburn; son and daughter-in-law, Barry G. Thompson (Linda); grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy Blackburn (Robert Schell), Tracy Ziebell (Matthew), Tanya Blackburn (Andrew Sheppard), Mandy Agnew (Barry), Jason Thompson (Allison) and Joshua Thompson (Sara); great-grandchildren, Gideon Agnew and Ember Thompson; sister-in-law, Joyce Leighton; special friend, Larry Akers; and many other family members and friends. 

The family received friends Friday, Mar. 8, 2024, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Radford. Funeral services followed with Pastor Timothy Worles officiating. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery in Montgomery County.

The Thompson family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
