Thomas “Tom” Morris Townsend, 92, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021, at his home in Radford.
He was born in December 1928 in Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ellen Townsend; his beloved wife of 63 years, Eva Nell Swaim Townsend; and a daughter, Penny Ann Townsend Hutton.
Survivors include his daughters, Pamela T. Thomas of Georgia and Patsy T. Hosner of Blacksburg; a grandson, Steven Morris Thomas of Georgia; a step-grandson, Jason Hosner of Germany; and a brother, M. Smith Townsend of Texas.
Tom was a military veteran, having served in the U. S. Air Force. He retired from Hercules, Inc,. with 37 years of service and was a member of Unity Christian Church in Radford.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg with the Rev. Gina Rhea officiating.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Unity Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to Good Samaritan Hospice, especially staff members: Sydney, Brittany, Mary Lee, Cherish, Angie, and Kayla, who lovingly shared their care and their concerns for Tom.
The Townsend family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
