Virginia Tech head coach Marci Byers announced Wednesday the signing of graduate transfer Ashley Homan from Alabama. She joins the Hokies after a one-year stint at SMU and three seasons in Tuscaloosa.
Homan will be the second graduate student to join Tech for the upcoming season. Natasha Vipond (Lafayette) signed in April. Homan will be one of seven student-athletes who have committed to the Hokies for the 2020-21 campaign.
The full class includes Emily Campe, Kirah Johnson, Brie Postema, Mara Perry, Cierra Huntley and then Homan and Vipond.
Homan attrended Brenham High School in Brenham, Texas. At SMU her freshman season, she appeared in 14 matches, starting five of them. She helped lead SMU to 26 wins, including an NCAA Tournament appearance and a victory over Texas A&M in the first round.
She played for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2017 through 2019 and was redshirted in 2018. She completed her master’s degree in sports business management with a 4.0 GPA and will work to earn a master’s of agriculture leadership at Tech.
