Margery Emma Atkins Teany, 94, of Radford, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. Born on Oct. 23, 1923, she was a faithful member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church of Radford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alva Atkins; her husband of 56 years, Albert Ludlow Teany; daughter-in-law, Sharlene C. Teany; and son-in-law, David A. Martin, Sr.
Survivors include her son, George (Rick) Teany of Radford; daughter, Rita T. Martin of Christiansburg; grandchildren, T.J. Teany of Christiansburg, David (Andy) and Teresa Martin of Check, and Kelly Martin of Radford; great-grandchildren, Logan Teany, Conner Martin, Kimberly Martin and Katie Martin; sister, June Helton of Wytheville; aunt, Sadie Repass of Atkins; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Peterman, Sis Duncan, Mary Francis Teany all of Christiansburg, and Sally Boles of Roanoke; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Margery was known for her willingness to care for others, her hard work in her vegetable garden, and the many kettles of apple butter making that was always a great “social event” All was shared with family and friends.
Funeral services were held on September 25, 2018 at the Old Brick Presbyterian Church on Rock Road with Pastor Robert Morris officiating. Interment followed in Teany Family Cemetery in Christiansburg.
The family received friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Old Brick Presbyterian Church or to Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad.
The Teany family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
