Barbara Jeanne Sweeney, 74, of Elliston, was finally completely healed by our Heavenly Father at home on Feb. 12, 2020, surrounded by her adoring husband, her family that loves her with their entire being, and her sweet cat and dog.
She was born in Giles County on Dec. 9, 1945, to the late John Earl Brown, Sr., and Margarette Brown. She was a devoted wife, mama, grandma, sister, friend, mother to all the kids her children brought into the house, and the list cannot be long enough for everything she did for the people God would place in her path. She loved people as family, and it didn’t matter who or where.
The ones left to carry on her beautiful legacy are her husband, Timmy E. Sweeney, of Elliston; children Tim and Trish Belcher, Chris and Angie Belcher, and Tommie and Vanessa Harman, Kevin and Teresa Sweeney, Patti Sweeney and Michael and Melina Sweeney; grandchildren Sara and husband Corey, Summer, Jordan, Jayden, Christopher, Ryan, Dana, Casi, Terra, Amanda, Micah, Miciah, and Mila and many great grandchildren; her brothers, Junior Brown and wife Alice, and Jim Brown and wife Diana; her cousins, who were her sisters that adored her, Helen, Wanda and Shelby; and her main sidekicks who were with her always, cat Weazey, and dog Bo. She impacted people’s lives everywhere she went.
A celebration of life will be held today, Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The celebration will be held at McCoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter or St. Jude’s Hospital in memory of Barbara Jeanne Sweeney.
