RADFORD – It all started with a Facebook post and ended with beautification efforts along one of Radford’s heavily traveled streets.
Former Radford City Council member Annyce Levy recently lamented about the trash she saw along Sundell Drive.
“I drove down the beautiful Sundell Drive this morning, [and] counted over 30 pieces of trash,” Levy posted. “If I were younger, I would go back and pick it up.”
It didn’t take long for her post to be noticed, and Janiele Hamden and the Radical Change Commission stepped up and took action to get the area cleaned up.
“Radford ServiceaAbove Self Award Winner Annyce Levy inspired us to roll up our sleeves and get dirty,” the RCC posted. “Please grab your trash bags and kiddos and join us as we take ownership of keeping our community clean.”
Dubbed Sundell Sunday, Hamden gathered volunteers, primarily children, and got several bags of trash picked up along Sundell Drive.
“Six bags of trash equals Sundell Sunday success,” she said. “Thank you to all who came out and joined.”
