SNHU announces summer 2024 President’s List
MANCHESTER, N.H. – It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates Thomas Floyd and Dakota Osborne of Radford on being named to the Summer 2024 President’s List. The summer terms run from May to August. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bryce Wood of Blacksburg has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Summer 2024 Dean’s List. The summer terms run from May to August. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
Tanner Long named to The Citadel’s spring 2024 dean’s list
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tanner Long of Christiansburg is among the more than 1,200 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the spring 2024 semester at the Citadel. The dean’s list is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester. Cadets who are named to the dean’s list receive a medal, which is worn on their uniform during the semester following their academic achievement. Tanner Long is also one of the more than 620 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the spring 2024 semester. Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students at The Citadel who achieved a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s dean’s list. Those cadets may wear gold stars on their uniforms throughout the semester following their academic achievement. A gold star recognition certificate is awarded to non-cadet students who meet the requirements; veteran and active-duty students are also awarded challenge coins.
David Smith receives Ralph White Prize in Mathematics
APPLETON, Wisc. – David Smith, of Radford, is the recipient of Lawrence University’s Ralph White Prize in Mathematics, awarded to a sophomore student excelling in the study of mathematics. The award was donated by Mrs. Mary White in 1921 in memory of her son, Ralph, Class of 1899. Smith is majoring in mathematics and physics. The award citation reads: “David is an outstanding math student. He writes clear and concise solutions, and he frequently looks for unique examples and interesting approaches to problem-solving. He has already proven he can independently study advanced mathematics. He is particularly interested in mathematics that applies to physics, and we look forward to seeing him continue his studies and research.” Smith was also named to Lawrence University’s 2023-24 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List is an annual honor roll of students demonstrating exemplary academic performance.
Madison Bruce named to ODAC All-Academic Team
WINCHESTER – The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics set a new school record with 329 student-athletes on the 2023-24 Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team in selections released by the conference on July 11. Madison Bruce, of Elliston, was among the Hornets to earn the honor. This year’s total is an increase of 33 student-athletes from SU’s previous best of 296 set during the 2022-23 academic year. Overall, 3,175 ODAC student-athletes represented their schools on this year’s all-academic team, which is a new high for the conference. SU ranks second among the 17 institutions featured, with Washington & Lee topping the list with 537 student-athletes. With the University of Lynchburg’s 322 student-athletes who met academic team standards, the ODAC had three schools eclipse the 300 mark in one academic year for the first time in conference history. For student-athletes to qualify for the ODAC All-Academic Team, they must’ve had a 3.25 GPA or higher for the 2023-24 school year. Of the 329 SU student-athletes on the team, 256 posted a GPA of 3.50 or better, and 46 had a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Chandon Thomson named to Berea College Dean’s List
BEREA, Ky. – Chandon Thomson, a resident of Christiansburg, has been named to the Spring 2024 Dean’s List at Berea College. A student is named to the Dean’s List who achieves a GPA of 3.4 or higher while passing at least four total credits, a course load equivalent to 16 semester hours. Berea College, the first interracial and coeducational college in the south, focuses on learning, labor and service. The college only admits academically promising students with limited financial resources, primarily from Kentucky and Appalachia, although students come from 46 states and 66 countries.
Shenandoah University announces graduates for 2023-24
WINCHESTER – Shenandoah University is pleased to announce the 1,247 graduates who received their degrees and/or certificates during the 2023-24 academic year. Those graduates included: Emily Phillips, of Christiansburg, who earned a Professional Studies Certificate for Licensure in Administration and Supervision and Sidney Rorrer, of Riner, who earned a Doctor of Pharmacy.
