Roland Griggs earns University of Nebraska-Lincoln degree
LINCOLN, Neb. – Roland Stephen Griggs of Christiansburg was among 569 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during a combined graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremony Aug. 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Griggs earned a Master of Business Administration from the Office of Graduate Studies.
Garrett Knobl named to University of Delaware Dean’s List
NEWARK, Del. – Garrett Knobl, of Blacksburg, has been named to the University of Delaware Dean’s List for the Spring 2024 semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
Skylar Miles graduates from Bridgewater College
BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Skylar Miles, of Radford, graduated with a master of science degree in athletic training from Bridgewater College during the May 4, 2024, Commencement exercises. Approximately 282 undergraduate and 35 graduate students from the Class of 2024 received degrees. Dr. David W. Bushman, president of Bridgewater College, conferred the degrees. Dr. Oskar Scheikl, former superintendent of Rockingham County Public Schools, served as the Commencement speaker for 2024. In his address, “Self and Service,” Scheikl urged graduates to take care of themselves so that they could take care of others and live life to the fullest: “Focusing on self and service requires the realization that it’s not all about you and those close to you. It’s about everyone.”
U Dallas senior Owen Embree named to Spring 2024 Dean’s List
IRVING, Texas – Owen Embree, of Blacksburg, was named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at the University of Dallas for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Embree is a Senior Mathematics major. Undergraduate students at the University of Dallas must complete two years of fundamental coursework in the humanities, sciences, politics, mathematics and fine arts. Students must also complete coursework in Ancient Greek, French, German, Italian, Latin or Spanish.
Jack Nussbaum named to the dean’s list at Tufts University
MEDFORD, Mass. – Jack Nussbaum, Class of 2027, of Blacksburg, was named to the dean’s list at Tufts University for the Spring 2024 semester. Dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland announces Spring 2024 Dean’s List
- MARY’S CITY, Md. – Robert Koontz, a resident of Christiansburg, VA, was awarded Dean’s List honors for academic achievement during the Spring 2024 semester at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the National Public Honors College. Dean’s List honors are awarded to full-time students at St. Mary’s College who earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or better on 12 or more graded credits.
Emily Chitwood inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
BATON ROUGE, La. – Emily Chitwood, of Blacksburg, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Chitwood was initiated at Radford University. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
Audrey Mosby of Radford named to Midway University Athletic Director’s Honor Roll
MIDWAY, Ky. – It was another highly successful spring semester in the classroom for Midway student-athletes, with 460 earning a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Audrey Mosby, a member of the Western Equestrian team, was named to the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for the entire semester.
