Richard Tyrone Stigger, 61, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at his home in New River.
He went to Glenvar High School in Salem where he played football and basketball. He went on to graduate from Virginia Highlands with an associate’s degree as a machinist.
He was a member of Valley Street Baptist Church in Abingdon. Richard enjoyed fishing and loved to farm as well. During planting season, he would plant tobacco, fruits and all kinds of vegetables. He loved to entertain his family with huge cookouts and get-togethers. He always did what he could for those in need. He had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, James Elwood Stigger, Sr.
Survivors include his daughters, Tiffany Goolsby (Willie, Jr.) and Jewel Stigger (Gabrielle Gonzalez); son Marcus Montgomery (Jenna); grandchildren Josiah Jenkins, Jayceon Goolsby and Bryce Montgomery; his mother, Frances Lilly Harvey; a sister, Angela Conner; brothers Silas E. and James L. Stigger; a special aunt, Laura Delapp; nieces Latoya, Christina, Raquel, Tamara and Whitney; nephew Eugene; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the New River Cemetery.
